Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 25, 2026
GPR News is a non-commercial audio brief published at gpr.news. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, and how to reach us if you want it deleted. Plain English. No legalese.
What we collect
When you visit gpr.news we collect the bare minimum to keep the site running and improve the brief:
- Anonymous page-view analytics via Vercel Analytics. No cookies. No fingerprinting. No persistent identifiers tied to you. Vercel measures aggregate metrics like “how many people played a bulletin today.”
- Server logs at the edge: the IP address, request path, and User-Agent of each request, retained briefly by our hosting provider (Vercel) for abuse detection and rate-limiting.
- Feedback you send us: if you click thumbs-up / thumbs-down on a bulletin, we store your vote alongside a hashed, non-reversible derivative of your IP address — only used to prevent a single visitor from voting hundreds of times. We can't recover your IP from the hash.
- Email subscriptions: if you give us your email to be notified of new briefs, we store it on our database. That's it. We don't share it. You can ask us to delete it any time (see below).
What we don't do
- We don't use tracking cookies or third-party advertising.
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't fingerprint you across sites. The site has no third-party trackers other than the analytics described above.
- We don't require accounts. Listening to a bulletin is fully anonymous.
Where your data lives
- Hosting + analytics: Vercel (United States). See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Database + audio storage: Supabase (United States). See Supabase's privacy policy. Bulletins, articles, votes, and email subscribers are stored here.
- LLM + TTS providers: OpenAI (for summarization and script writing) and Cartesia (for speech synthesis) process article abstracts and bulletin scripts during the generation pipeline. Neither sees any visitor data — they only see the editorial content we send them.
Your rights and how to use them
Whether GDPR, CCPA, or just “please don't keep my email, thanks” applies to you, the answer is the same:
- Email hello@gpr.news with what you want done — delete my email subscription, delete my feedback votes, confirm you have nothing of mine.
- We'll act within 30 days. Usually faster — this is a small project.
Children
GPR News is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has subscribed, email us and we'll remove the record.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the “last updated” date above and, if you've given us your email, send a one-line note. No sneaky changes.
